edit citation Chicago style

I would like to edit an in text citation in the Chicago note style. When I click on the citation, Zotero inserts a citation next to it, and I am unable to edit my previous citation. Any advice how to do this? Thanks!
  • I'm a bit confused what an in-text citation in Chicago note style is. Wouldn't that be a footnote?

And what exactly happens when you put your cursor into the footnote and press add/edit citation? You should get the red citatoin dialog with the original reference in it, which you can then click to edit with prefix, suffix, locator.
  • Thanks! I didn't realize I needed to update the footnote, not the number itself. I usually use Harvard style!
