problems attaching links to files

I'm shifting from attaching stored copies of files in Zotero and using links. I've specified the base directory in the Linked Attachment Base Directory. When I right-click on an item and hover over Add Attachment, I can either Attach Link to URL or Attach Stored Copy of File. I can *see* the Attach Link to File option, but Zotero won't let me select it.

Can anyone help?

    You can't use linked files in groups (because other people likely wouldn't have access to the file at the same path, and there's currently only a single Linked Attachment Base Directory setting for My Library).
