Word crashes constantly with new version of Firefox

Since I upgraded as recommended, and installed the new Zotero connector and Word plug in as recommended when Firefox and Zotero became separate, I experience contstant crashing of Word or the Zotero in text citation function freezing or just failing to respond. A lot of text has been lost as a result. I have tried various options such as opening a new document or saving under a new name. Can anyone offer any advice-I do not want to move from Zotero which has served me well.

    Do you have the Zotero desktop app (not the Firefox connector, that’s different) installed and open? What version of Word are you using?
