Citation not working

I am unable to add a citation - using Zotero 5.0.34 and Word for Mac 2011, version 14.7.3
It's not letting me add a bibliography or a citation.

    could you specify "not letting me" What are you doing, what exactly is or isn't happening?

    I click add citation, or add bibliography and nothing happens. The word document remains blank. I've opened a new word document - same result. It worked yesterday.

    Have you restarted your computer? Worth a try with Word integration.
    If that doesn't work, do you get the Zotero icons in the Apple Script Menu (the rolled up paper at the top right). If so, does using those work?

    I'll try restarting now. I'm not sure what the Apple Script Menu is. Normally in Word, I have a small Zotero icon between Window and Help at the top of the screen. the pop up (connector?) no longer appears

    That's the one. Computer restart worked, thanks. If you know a way to prevent it happening again, that'd be great. Thanks for your help anyway.

    Not really -- should be pretty rare, but think of it as pipes getting clogged in a computer and the restart flushes them through.
