How to insert comment/footnote by author that is not a citation

How do I use Zotero on a Mac to insert a footnote that is not a citation? For example, if after a sentence, I do not want to cite anything, but just add a few sentences that belong in the footnotes rather than in the main paper, but there is no "source" to cite from the Zotero library?
  • just use your word processor's standard footnote function -- you can safely mix word processor and Zotero generated footnotes (technically they're the same thing).
  • Thank you, I appreciate it. I will try this. I hope it incorporates it and then changes it accordingly when I am editing. For example, if footnote 50 is a Zotero citation, footnote 51 is a MSWord "comment/footnote," then 52 is another Zotero citation, but then I go back, for example, and erase footnotes 50 and 52, that it then changes the "comment/footnote" to 49, etc. and keeps it all in sync. But it sounds like you've dealt with this, so I'm less worried now. I appreciate it!
    Thank you,

  • Yes, for Footnote styles, the numbering is all handled by Word and will work very smoothly.
  • Thank you, I appreciate it. My nerves are calmed.
