Remove A Website From Proxy Redirect?

I really like the proxy redirect feature, but I have a question about it: is it possible to remove a specific site from being redirected through the proxy?

There's a site that I accessed through my university library proxy once, thinking that this would open more content. However, it did not, and Zotero unfortunately remembered that I accessed the site through the proxy. Now every time I try to access the site normally, I gets redirected to the proxy page, and I'm not able to access the original site. Is there any way that I can make Zotero 'forget' that I ever tried to access this site through the proxy so that it will stop redirecting me? I don't want to disable Zotero's proxy redirect feature, because it's generally very useful, I just want it to stop working for this specific site.

Thanks,

-Andrew
  • In the Zotero preferences, open the proxy tab, double click on the "Multi-Site" proxy that will be listed there. That will open a list with all proxied sites, find the one in question, select it and press the minus sign below that window to delete it.
  • Thanks! That's what I was looking for.

  • Need to still beable to do this. Can't figure out how with new Zotero...any advice?
  • Proxy tab is now in the Connector preferences (right-click on the Save to Zotero icon and select Preferences [Firefox]/Options [Chrome]). Rest of the instructions are identical.
  • Thanks for the quick reply. But, this doesn't seem to be working for me. If I get to Options/Proxy I don't see "Multi-site" or anything similar that allows me to remove automatic proxy redirects for certain sites. Instead, all I see is a window that lets me add or remove proxies. Any tips?
  • Is there anything in the Configured Proxy window? If so, have you tried clicking it?
  • Figured it out. You have to go to Options/Advanced/Advanced config (button at bottom says config editor). Then you have a bunch of advanced settings to mess with. You can doubleclick on the proxy part and manually remove a website that way.
  • wait what? No, that's for a completely different type of proxy. Are you sure that's what you want? It's not what this thread was about.
  • Yup. I just tried it and it worked. Zotero had saved the preference to automatically load a particular web page through a proxy I had designated (specifically Google scholar through my Universities proxy). This caused a lot of problems...so I removed that redirect as per my last post, and know everything works. This seemed to me to be what the OP was talking about
  • I'm not actually clear what setting @harrisonjg is referring to. There's a config editor in both Zotero and the connector, and sites associated with proxies in the connector show up there too. But those should all show up in the Proxies tab too unless something isn't working right. There shouldn't be any need to edit the proxies.proxies setting manually.
  • Dunno @dstillman in my proxies tab I only see two proxies (both through my University), nothing about which sites are automatically routed through either of those proxies. In my config editor/proxies.proxies I see loads of sites. Anyway, thanks to all for the rapid input, it helped me get on the right track to solve my issue
  • You can double-click on the listings under Configured Proxies to show all associated sites -- works the same way as the "Multi-site" entries referenced above.
  • You just need to click once (double-click was in the client in 4.0) on the proxy entry to show the associated hosts. There's no need to use the Config Editor.
