QuotationsBook.com and Zotero
Hello everyone
I run http://quotationsbook.com - a unique effort to make finding and socialising around quotations a pleasure, something that has been left behind. We have a large content site, with at least 42,000 quotations, many thousands with contexts derived from Project Gutenberg - like this for example - http://quotationsbook.com/quote/1391/
What can we do to make each of our quotations Zotero compatible? Once we have that, Zotero would become really useful for capturing the essential elements of a quotation.

noksagtI won't speak for the Zotero devs, but I believe that the best way is for you to adopt unAPI and MODS XML. This is s fairly straight-forward, open protocol & won't require specialized translators, will work with non-Zotero clients, etc. I believe unAPI is also currently the only standardized format to scrape an abstract (so that you can get the actual quotes scraped, along with the source of the quote).

quotationsbookThanks for your input. From what I understand, am I to markup my content in a specific way? I hope this can be explained simply.

noksagtIf you want to use unAPI+MODS, the first step should probably be to make a MODS XML exporter. Read about the spec at the mods site I linked & test manually importing MODS into Zotero.
