latest firefox upgrade broke zotero
Since a couple of days the Firefox Zotero 5 add-on fails to add items from Google scholar to Zotero database. This apparently happens since the last Firefox upgrade:
[2017-11-22 12:39] [ALPM] upgraded firefox (56.0.2-1 -> 57.0-2)
The standalone Zotero 5.0.28 is loaded, and Zotero Status gives me Zotero is currently available. I am also logged in to zotero.org and checked that the entries don't get saved in the online database either.

rytis.paskauskasI upgraded the Zotero Connector 5.0.27->5.0.28. The NYTimes pages' test went OK, but the scholar.google.com failed. Then disabling NoScript and Privacy Badger fixed the scholar problem. I'd like to figure out a way to reintegrate the script blockers, especially since they used work together with Zotero just fine...
-
rytis.paskauskasNoScript creates problems. The only way so far is to disable it.
-
dstillmanYou've confirmed that the problem reliably comes back if you enable NoScript and goes away if you disable it?
-
rytis.paskauskasYes I did.
-
dstillmanThe Connector works fine for me with NoScript enabled with default settings.
-
rytis.paskauskasBreaks down after the upgrades. Do you have the up-to-date versions of NoScript and Firefox? Try it with v. 10.1.5.3, and 57.0-2, respectively.
-
dstillmanYes, it works fine.
-
dstillmanYou can try it yourself in a new Firefox profile, with just the Zotero Connector and NoScript installed.
-
bwiernikI just installed NoScript (10.1.5.5) for the first time (Firefox 57.0.1 on Mac). Items save from Google Scholar without issue. I wonder if your issue is related to a specific setting in NoScript. You could try to reset it to default settings or remove it and all of its settings completely, then reinstall it.

dstillmanedited December 5, 2017@rytis.paskauskas: Well, you're not actually using the latest versions, though. The latest Firefox version is 57.0.1, and the latest NoScript is 10.1.5.5. (And 57.0-2 sounds like a Linux package, not the official Firefox tarball, though I doubt that's the issue. Much more likely that it's a bug in one of the older versions you're running or a non-default setting.)

rytis.paskauskas@dstillman: A clean profile test went well. Thanks for the tip. It remains to figure out what's the screwy setting.
-
grbrI'm having the same issue with FF Quantum 57.0.2 (64 bits) and NoScript 10.1.6: Save to Zotero button is greyed unless I authorize page or disable NoScript. @rytis.paskauskas have you by any chance identified the "screwy setting"?

rytis.paskauskas@grbr: about:addons -> NoScript preferences -> Reset solved my problem.
