Magic Wand Missing after Connector Upgrade to Latest Firefox

I was automatically upgraded to Zotero Connector when Firefox 57 installed. It is okay except the magic wand is gone. I use Windows 10 and I'm VPNing using a Macbook. What should I do? I love that magic wand.
  • The magic wand is in Zotero 5 -- it's just not in your browser anymore, but part of the separate software, see
    https://www.zotero.org/blog/a-unified-zotero-experience/
  • I don't understand. There's nothing about the magic wand on the linked primer page in the reply. What should I do to get the magic wand back? Do I download Zotero 5.0? Do I need to download anything else? Thanks.
  • You download Zotero 5 and you don't need anything else -- but note that Zotero 5 consists of two pieces: Zotero 5 the software and (typically, though not strictly required) Zotero 5 the browser connector. In Firefox, you'd have been updated to the latter, you still need to update the former. You should have received a message about that after the update, too.
  • Thanks. Many problems with Firefox 57. Is it possible to download Zotero Connector for Chrome and migrate my Zotero group library to Chrome? Thanks.
  • Firefox and Chrome work exactly the same way with respect to Zotero. With all browsers, you need to install the Zotero desktop app (http://zotero.org/download). There is no longer any version of Zotero integrated into a browser (that was only ever the case for Firefox).
  • Sorry, you're missing the gist of the changes, still. You need to install Zotero 5, the application, first. That's independent of any browser and that's where your data is.
You can then install browser connectors for both Firefox and Chrome (and Safari) that connect those browser to Zotero.
There's no such thing as having your Zotero library in Chrome.
