Zotero inserts a quote multiple times.

I gave my document for review, received it back, but now I have some problems with Zotero. The new references are Ok, but the old ones are doubled like:

Valentin Rasputin, Siberia, Siberia, trans. Margaret Winchell and Gerald Mikkelson (Northwestern University Press, 1997), 69.Valentin Rasputin, Siberia, Siberia, trans. Margaret Winchell and Gerald Mikkelson (Northwestern University Press, 1997), 69.Valentin Rasputin, Siberia, Siberia, trans. Margaret Winchell and Gerald Mikkelson (Northwestern University Press, 1997), 69.

If I press add/edit citation, I get just one more additional reference to the existing row. Help! Thank you so much!

Are you using Word of LibreOffice (and which version)? And what style are you using?

What happens if you press the Refresh button in the Zotero toolbar?

If in Word, if right-click on the citation, do you see an option to "Toggle Field Codes"? Do both versions of the reference change to code or just one? If you click that option, can you copy the code that appears here (please put in <code> HTML tags like this)?
  • I am using Word Standard 2013. Chicago Manual (full-note). Reresh button does not change anything.
I see "Toggle Field codes" only if I do "select all".
If I press Alt+f9, I see the footnote like this:
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/7wddyiun3qho8ta/prtscr.pdf?dl=0

It seems, I should reinsert everything manually ^(
  • It is a typical situation when you get back document opened and changed in a different text editor - Zotero fields are unlinked from the Zotero database. But why you do not use your original document? There you can create all necessary editions.
  • Thanks. It is either to insert hundreds of changes or to insert footnotes. Both is kind of sad ^(
  • You can use compare/merge two document in the MS Word. Yes, of course, there is still a lot of manual work, unfortunately.
  • One more question that drives me crazy. Previously I had that kind of footnotes:
    19. Evreiskie obshchiny Zapadnoi Sibiri, 72.
    20. Ibid.

After all this reviewing back and forth Zotero insertes it differently:
    19. Goncharov, Evreiskie obshchiny Zapadnoi Sibiri, 72.
    20. Goncharov, 72.

How can I change it back? Thank you!

  • Are you use the same style
    Chicago Manual (full-note)
    ?
  • Thanks! I found it in other threads!
  • Yes, the 17th edition of Chicago no longer recommends Ibid., so the Zotero style doesn't use it. If you want an Ibid. version, it is available from the Zotero style repository.
  • Thank you all for your help.
