support for new Firefox API

I read about that in November this year Mozilla will deactivate old AddOn API in Firefox. This will cause some AddOns not working anymore.

Will you migrate to the new API so that Zotero can work further?

Zotero 5.0 will only provide a desktop client (no more full-fledged Firefox addon). Instead Firefox gets a connector like the one for Chrome and Safari. To read more about Zotero 5.0 (currently in Beta) see:

Not sure if I understand the technical details. So please let me ask again.

It sounds like that Zotero will work in/with the new Firefox and its new API, too?

Yes. Going forward, the main Zotero app will only be available as a standalone application (an updated version of the current Zotero Standalone, although it will probably get a slightly different name and lose the "Standalone"), which can connect to Firefox through a separate connector add-on that uses the new API.

@Cepmed Zutilo is working with Z5. If you have any problems, report it.

When I try to download - zutilo_utility_for_zotero-2.0.3-fx.xpi - it 'says'
"Zutilo Utility for Zotero could not be installed because it is not compatible with Firefox 57.0"....

You're trying to install it in Firefox. You need to download (right-click --> save link as) and install in Zotero under Tools --> Add-ons
