How to change default gimp for pdfs

I have managed to link to my locally stored PDFs but when I go to View File it uses Gimp instead of xpdf. Firefox it uses the default xpdf correctly. Is there any way to change the Zotero default?

I can't get Show File to work either.
  • This might help: http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/4972/change-default-pdf-application-under-ubuntu-810firefox-30/
  • Thanks for the prompt reply. Unfortunately I haven't managed to change the behaviour. Firefox, as I say, does use xpdf and I can't find anywhere else where gimp is set. This is on Debian Sid, incidentally.
  • Did you check the file locations I listed in the other thread?
  • That link just talks about a setting in the OS but there isn't one as far as I know.
  • Did you read the thread? It talks about the files /usr/local/share/applications/defaults.list and /etc/gnome/defaults.list.
  • Ah - I was confused by the reference to gnome, which I don't use. But I found a file called /usr/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache and that was where the gimp was coming from. Deleting that entry and leaving just xpdf has worked. I don't know if one is supposed to edit that file manually but I'll investigate further.
  • Hi, i'm using a opensuse and the Dan's remarks worked for me.

I just commented the line with "application/pdf=gimp.desktop" in the file "/usr/share/applications/defaults.list".

Now, zotero opens the pdf files with okular.

    Regards
