What exactly are you trying to do when you are getting this error?

That is definitely not a normal message to receive, and it suggests you have some sort of security software that is interfering with communication between your browser and the Zotero program. Are you running any sort of security or antivirus progrmam?
  • I have tried all the troubleshooting suggestions as to why this error message is occurring and none of them do anything. I have literally spent over 2 hours trying to get this software to connect so I could introduce it to my students, but have given up! I cannot expect people with basic tech skills to use it if someone like myself who has a lot of tech knowledge can't get it to work.
  • You still haven't said what the problem is, so we're not able to help you.

But this is most likely what you're seeing: https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/connector_zotero_unavailable
