JavaScript error generating bibliography Report ID 829283723

Hi,

I'm trying to generate bibliography entries and getting this message:
"[JavaScript Application] An error occurred while generating your bibliography. Please try again."
This happens when I right click, then choose "Create bibliography from item." I'm just using Chicago style, no custom styling, and it still happens if I select another style. I have tried copying to clipboard as well as saving as RTF and get the same message. This happens to multiple items in my library, suggesting the problem is not with a single source.

I tried drag-and-drop instead, and that worked when I had "Scannable Cite" as the default output, but when I changed it in preferences to Chicago style drag-and-drop stopped allowing me to input a source into my Word document. (I had Scannable Cite as my default output a few weeks ago when I was trying to figure out my Word/Scrivener workflow, but it seems it's best just to have messy cites in Scrivener and then export to Word for final editing and format the citations there. It's possible I changed another preference or setting besides default output and need to change it back, but I'm not sure why that would produce a JavaScript error.)

What should I do to fix this?

Thanks!
SH

    TypeError: this['et-al'].single is undefined" {file: "chrome://zotero/content/xpcom/citeproc.js" line: 8806}
    TypeError: this.and.single is undefined" {file: "chrome://zotero/content/xpcom/citeproc.js" line: 10021}

    For the quickest fix, upgrade to Zotero 5.0.

    It looks like bibliography generation is broken in Zotero 4.0 in Firefox 56, which was just released. We'll put out one more Zotero 4.0 release to fix that, but 4.0 will stop working in Firefox 57 in November, and there may be other issues as well.

    This error is fixed in Zotero 4.0.29.23, now available. We still recommend upgrading to 5.0 as soon as possible, though.
  • Thank you so much for the solution and the warning that Firefox wouldn't work much longer anyway. I upgraded to standalone Zotero 5.0 and all seems to be working great.
