Import File to Zotero Connector

Is it possible to import a file to Zotero Connector?
  • you'd have to explain a bit more what you would like to do. Often, the best way to clarify a question is to provide a specific use case.
  • I want to import a bibliography made with Jabref that has a .bib extension.
With Zotero Standalone installed on my computer this was very easy.
However, I have recently switched to a Chromebook Thinkpad and have
installed Zotero as the Chrome Connector. I can add individual references
very easily, but I would like to import my entire Jabref file.
Is this possible? If so, how can I do this?
  • Sorry, there's no way to import bibtex and similar bibliographic formats without Zotero Standalone.
  • Are there any plans to make a Zotero Standalone version that is compatible with Chrome
    OS?
  • No. The webpage will become more powerful, so you'll be able to do more on a Chromebook, but I don't know if data import is among the planned improvements. The main focus will remain on the Standalone app, which is almost certainly not going to see a Chromebook port. If you're going to use a Chromebook as your main device, I'd honestly advise looking for a different reference manager.
All decent options I'm aware of are non-free, but of those, consider looking at PaperPile.
  • Adam,

Thank you for the help. I just tried out PaperPile and it looks like a very good solution.
Jabref used to be a very good program but it ha gone through a number of changes
recently: loss of online version, "friendlier" i.e. less professional interface and of course
requires Java, which is incompatible with Chrome OS.
    Best wishes, Chris
