OpenOffice 3.1 and OS X

Although not (yet) available from OpenOffice.org, OO 3.1.0 can be downloaded from here for Intel or PPC Macs (at the time of writing the latest release was RC 1):

I have installed OO 3.1.0 from this website on my iBook G3 PPC (OS X 10.4.11) and the Zotero plugin 2.0a2 installs and works normally with Zotero 1.5 beta.

I have tried the latest version of NeoOffice (3.0) but the Zotero toolbar is nowhere to be found after installation. OpenOffice 3.1.0 seems to function properly, and uses no more memory compared with NeoOffice.

You're a brave man running OpenOffice on an iBook G3. I have one myself and it's slow as molasses. It's actually difficult to even find OO3.0.1 on their site for PPC. You have to look for the Mac Porting Project page. If you're running a PPC, the download link from the main page claims to download 3.0.1, but fails and directs you to a page with a link to 2.4.0. No sign of 3.1.0 on the Mac Porting Project page, though, as you say.

I think you are referring to the OpenOffice.org website in being redirected to OO 2.4.0 at the last minute. As I said, I successfully downloaded OO 3.1.0 and installed for my particular PPC configuration. The link to the file I required can be found on my original posting. The file I downloaded was this:

For those with an Intel Mac, try this:

Performance on my particular hardware is incidental; the point is that if you are running OS X you can now download OO 3.1.0 which seems to solve the problems getting integration with Zotero 1.5 beta.
