Problems in installing Zotero 5.0

Perhaps a really stupid question: the hard disk of my laptop (PC, windows 8) was replaced. I have been using Zotero for many years without problems. Now I installed Zotero 5.0 for Firefox and also the browser connector. In my Firefox, I can see the "Save to zotero" symbol (in the up right corener), but not the Z symbol. Moreover, I cannot reach my library (other than by opening Zotero through the browser). Finally, I didn't find the plugins for word.

What did I do wrong? What should I do?

https://www.zotero.org/blog/a-unified-zotero-experience/ : "Zotero 5.0 for Firefox" does not exist. You've installed Zotero and the Zotero Connector for you browser (Firefox).
Moreover, I cannot reach my library (other than by opening Zotero through the browser).
What do you mean exactly? You can't see anything in your library when Zotero (the client) is open? You only see your library online?
Finally, I didn't find the plugins for word.

  • Hi and thanks for the links. Both I have seen. What I mean is that in the older version (which is still in my office PC), I can see two Zotero-related symbols in the upper right corner of Firefox, a capital Z (= Zotero) and another symbol (= Save to Zotero (Embedded metadata)). When I click the Z, my library opens in the lower part of my screen. However, now I don't have the Z-symbol and I am not connected to my library. Regarding the plugins, I understood that with the new Zotero 5.0 I don't download manually any plugins.
  • In the older version, 4.0, yes : one button to open Zotero (4.0 for Firefox), another to save items in your library.

There's no button to open Zotero 5.0 from the browser because Zotero 5.0 is a separate software.
I am not connected to my library
What's happen when you open Zotero 5.0? Did you install it?
  • For some reason, I think I got it! Now it seems to work; perhaps just problems with using the new version. Thanks.
  • Ok, good news. (I was suspecting you had installed Zotero 5.0 but your library was empty because sync was not set up or because Zotero had not found your old data on your new hard disk.)
  • Yeah. Anyway, thanks for rapid support.
