won't pull the metadata and the PDF from google scholar at the same time

so when i import from google scholar using the button in the url field that looks like a page or a folder, zotero pulls the metadata but not the PDF file though it is clearly there. google scholar shows a open source PDF and when i use the folder button and the dialog box appears with the list of results on that page and you have to check the items you want, the PDFs all have bold arrows showing that zotero knows there is something there but it doesnt pull it.

and then when i click the locate or view button it uses the resolver based tool and not google scholar though it knows it came from there as it is in the metadata.

this forces me to manually download each file, drag it into zotero, and then manually force it to retrieve the metadata, and attach a link to the page from google scholar.

i want it to import the PDF when it pulls the metadata and i want the locate bar to use google scholar and not my library as the resolver but i dont know what to put as the openURL resolver address for google scholar to accomplish this.

If the primary link is to a PDF, the PDF is downloaded. I assume you want the entries with two links (to both a webpage and a PDF) to also download PDFs.

This is consistent with how the locate button is used through-out zotero. I don't know if there is a rationale behind Zotero not using the linked URL in the URL field (which would activate the "view" button). If you are taking snapshots, the linked page should have the URL from which it was downloaded.

There are plans to add more ways to find a page/article. In the trunk, you can retrieve from the internet archive's wayback machine. I wouldn't be opposed to adding common reference site searches to this drop down, but I disagree that the default behavior of locate should be changed.

Just to make sure, since you didn't expressly say that you'd done so: have you checked "Automatically attach associated PDFs..." in the General tab of the Preferences window?
