Add Item(s) by Identifier - paste option not functioning

Just installed v5.0.7.

Refamiliarising myself with interface etc, I've found that when the toolbar "Add Item(s) by Identifier" button is pressed, the empty text box generated does not accept any pasted data.

Right-clicking in the text box shows the Paste action is available - it's just that no copied data appears in the box.

Everything else seems OK.

Alas, since I have several hundred volumes to add to the database the unavailability of the shortcut is problematic...

Running W7 64-bit, clean install of Zotero 5 with no items added or imported to it. All program settings/preferences left as defaults on installation.
  • Can you provide any example of identifier, which you try to find?
This functionality has its own limitation due to searched database.
  • Just want to be clear—this happens with any text copied to the clipboard (e.g., with just “1234” copies)?

And does it persist if you restart Zotero?

If it does, can you submit and Error Report ID (https://www.zotero.org/support/reporting_problems) and also a Debug ID (https://www.zotero.org/support/debug_output) for an attempt to paste in the window that fails?
  • Problem persists after multiple restarts and irrespective of use of mouse right-click option or Cntrl-V keyboard shortcut.

Cannot generate an Error ID (Error report output is "No errors have been logged since Zotero started.")

    Debug ID = D1094887485

To make clear - the Add Identifier lookup works perfectly when the data is entered manually (in this case, I tested a range of 10- and 13-digit ISBNs drawn from Worldcat.org).

For info only - have not seen any copy/paste irregularities occur in any other applications.
  • I’ve been able to replicate not being able to paste from the context menu into this field on Mac. But Cmd+V works for me.

We will have to let the Zotero devs take a look
  • I believe pasting into that box from the context menu has always been broken — some weird fluke of the framework we use that we've never tracked down. I can't recall ever hearing of the keyboard shortcut not working, though. I'll test on Windows, but unfortunately I don't think we'll be able to do much to debug that if we can't reproduce it.
  • In Zotero 5.0.30, ctrl-v works on Windows 10, but does not work on Linux Mint 18.3. In previous versions, it used to work also on Linux Mint; but not anymore. All other uses of ctrl-v work well in Zotero.
