I upgraded my Zotero but still have no available space for storage

Hi!

I upgraded my Zotero account a few weeks ago with 20 dollars. My account show that the payment worked and it also indicates the right amount of storage. Yet passing from 300MB to 2000MB my account still appears as full. Is that normal?

Thank you very much for your help.
  • Yes, you're now using the full 2 GB. If you want to sync additional files, you can switch to a larger plan (which will adjust your expiration date forward) from the storage settings page.
  • Thanks for your answer; yet what I didn't get is that it instantly became full right after I paid for the upgrade, so basically before I was even able to upload anything new...

@eynaud.lea, did you have an upgraded Zotero account before? I'm just guessing here, but one possibility might be that you already maxed out on 2 GB on a previous occasion, let your subscription lapse, and then reactivated your subscription. Zotero has a grace period before it deletes files beyond a reduced storage quota, so your old files might just have survived the period of a lapsed subscription.

Or perhaps you just have very fast internet.

You can also check the total size of the Zotero data directory on your computer (https://www.zotero.org/support/zotero_data#locating_your_zotero_library), to get an idea of what kind of subscription you need to get sync working.
  • Dear Rintze,
thanks for the tipp. Actually I did not upgrade my account before, which is why it stroke me as odd when it got full again directly after the upgrade... So before I pay again for extra space, I would like to make sure that nothing is wrong with my account; any way to contact Zotero services on that matter?
  • It looks like you upgraded your account in April, not a few weeks ago, and then uploaded 1.7 GB of files over the rest of April.
  • Actually the available space appeared full (like 98% or so) directly after I upgraded; I could then indeed upload a few webpages but I surely did not upload 1.7 GB myself. The only explanation I find would be for these 1.7 GB to have somehow already been in my library but only partially uploaded so that it immediately took the newly avalable space as I upgraded... But otherwise I just don't understand.

Uploaded means uploaded to the Zotero servers. The associated items weren't new in your library. Over 600 files, totaling 1.7 GB, were uploaded over the course of two hours immediately after you upgraded your account in April.
  • Also, to be clear, you don't need to pay more now to upload additional files — you can adjust your quota to a higher plan, and the expiration date will just be moved forward.
