Annotated APA bibliography with abstract and notes

Good afternoon, I've seen several comments regarding an APA annotated bibliography style that includes BOTH the abstract and notes (or the Extra field). I checked in the CS library and did not see a style that includes both. I do not have the skill set to edit an existing style file (I came to that conclusion after trying it on the CSL editing site).

Is there one out out there and I just missed it? It would be incredibly helpful to have. I found two other discussions in the forum in which people asked about it, however there was no reference to one having been created. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

no, sorry, doesn't currently exist as far as I know.

I would love guidance on making it. I tried the CSL editing site and was not able to figure it out. I also looked at the text and wasn't able to figure it out that way, either. My coding skills are limited, so assistance would be much appreciated.

It looks like others have requested this same style. If I can create it, I'm happy to share.

If you start with the annotated APA style https://github.com/citation-style-language/styles/blob/master/apa-annotated-bibliography.csl

and then just
add
<text variable="note" display="block"/>
right above (or below, depending on preferred order)
<text variable="abstract" display="block"/>
that's all you need to do.

edit: note that this uses Extra. There is no way to include notes in a citation style.

I would be so thrilled if somebody indeed wrote the code so that I could create annotated APA style bibliographies with BOTH "extra" and "abstract" fields included!

Mmmm....no, have to admit I haven't been brave enough to try. I'll bookmark these instructions you wrote (which are probably great!) and come back when I'm feeling brave. And more un-lazy? ;)

@KatieGK @mgh10100, doesn't look like this is going to make it to the repository, but you can go here and save the page (right click, "save as"), then go to your preferences -> cite -> click the plus sign -> search for the .csl file you saved.

@denlinkd btw. Zotero 5 should install files with a .csl extension simply when you double-click them.
