Missing title/menu bar in 5.0

  • I just downloaded 5.0 and the title bar and menu bar are missing. After reinstalling the application and also restarting my computer, the issue continues. Presently I can only add a new item by using the Safari extension. I cannot add via the standalone product and the add buttons are greyed on in my online library.

    Can you take a screenshot of this, upload it somewhere (e.g., Dropbox, imgur), and provide a link here?

    Also, what macOS version?

    This was an old issue when El Capitan came out and Zotero was closed in full-screen mode. That was fixed long ago, but it's possible there's a new issue in 5.0, though I can't reproduce it the same way.

    Close Zotero, open your Zotero profile directory (hold down Option and click the Go menu in Finder to get into ~/Library), and move xulstore.json to your desktop temporarily. (If this fixes it we'd want to see that file.) Then try starting Zotero again.
  • I went into my library, but don't see a Zotero folder or the xulstore.json file. I do have a Zotero folder, but is in my user profile. I went through all folders in the Zotero folder and don't see the xulstore.json file.

    In Finder, open the Go menu, "Go to Folder…", paste in ~/Library/Application Support/Zotero/Profiles/

    You should see a profile folder, and there should be a xulstore.json file within that.
  • Found it and that worked. What should I do with the xulstore.json file that is on my desktop?
