BSeloveHello. I am having a problem retrieving metadata. I've used Zotero for years and this just started in the last month or so. After a minute or two of processing I see "An unexpected error occured." I have confirmed I have a current version of Zotero. Not sure how the error report works but I have this number: 990679082 The particular PDF I tried most recently is from BMC Health Services Research 2016; however this has happened with every PDF I've tried for a while. I can enter the citation information manually. Thanks for advice.

dstillman Zotero TeamCan you provide a Debug ID (different from a Report ID) for an attempt that fails?
-
adamsmithFrom the other thread: The Debug ID is D1531030645.

dstillman Zotero TeamThe request to Google Scholar is failing. Can you connect to Google Scholar normally? What's the site certificate info that you see for Google Scholar? Are you connecting via a proxy server?
-
BSeloveThanks for responding. Please tell me what you mean by "a proxy server." The site certificate information includes these statements: This certificate has been verified for the following uses: SSL Client Certificate SSL Server Certificate. What else would be useful to you?
-
BSeloveAlso, I think I am connecting to Google Scholar "normally." I haven't changed the way I do that. Thanks again.
-
BSeloveMaybe this is also useful. Many of the PDFs I have are downloaded from journals directly, through a university library website, and not from Google Scholar.
-
dstillman Zotero TeamIt's saying "SSL Client Certificate" next to "Verified by" and/or "Organization"? That doesn't sound right. I'm guessing that something is intercepting your secure connections, likely either your university's proxy server or an HTTPS-scanning feature of security software on your system.
-
dstillman Zotero TeamBasically, see this page (replacing "sync.zotero.org" with "scholar.google.com") for an explanation of the problem. If this is on an institutional computer/network, you should talk to your IT department.
-
BSeloveThanks for the input. I sent information from this forum and screenshots to our IT dept. While they looked into it, the problem mysteriously resolved on its own. Thanks again for the speedy responses.
