I have this situation, online library appears to be okay, while local pc library is empty. Folders still there.
I already reinstalled zotero standalone which appeared work
    https://www.zotero.org/download/
but the following day I have the same situation - empty

I have renewed my storage agreement with Zotero - is there some issue following this. It was renewed within the 5 days.

Trying to finish my PhD so would be good to have all up and running.

You say you're using Zotero Standalone, but this sounds like you're using an outdated version of Zotero for Firefox with Firefox 54. Update to the latest version.

And if that's not the case, we'd need a Report ID to start.
  • so the download for zotero standalone gives the version as 4.0.29.17_setup.exe
is this the correct one? its what I downloaded before but I can try again.
  • That's Zotero Standalone, but the problem you're describing sounds like you're running an outdated version of Zotero for Firefox (with Zotero Standalone closed).

report id after downloading firefox extension
    nothing in folders on desktop
  • Let's back up. Is the problem you're reporting in Zotero Standalone or Zotero for Firefox, or both?
  • oaky I have the firefox extension on my mozilla browser where I can add content to what looks like a desktop library directly from the internet. This syncs with the zotero library https://www.zotero.org/ckee001/items

So do I have a standalone on my pc?

so i just looked in my program files, clicked on zoterostandalone and the library comes up with content included - on my other screen. But if I click on the Z symbol on my browser it is empty. version 4.0.29.17

    browser button version says 4.0.29.21

But I have updated the browser button today to get this version but its empty.
the browser message id now is 500140314
  • OK, so do I understand that Zotero Standalone has the data you expect?

If so, you should just install the new Zotero Connector for Firefox and use that with Standalone. We could debug this, but the full version of Zotero for Firefox will be discontinued shortly anyway (due to changes Mozilla is making to Firefox) and you'll be auto-upgraded to the new connector, so you should just use that along with Zotero Standalone.
  • so installed from the page you sent me. now the red Z is on the browser but doesn't do anything?
  • okay now there is a document symbol which seems to save content but says local library is empty. cannot see local library from browser but can when open library from program menu. Is add on to firefox or chrome supposed to open local library with this new connector?
