Zotero Connector 5.0.7 for Firefox disappeared

Hello,

I'm running the latest Zotero 5 Beta on my fully updated Manjaro Linux system and the standalone application is working.

Unfortunately, the Zotero Connector 5.0.7 addon for Firefox disappeared from my toolbar and even though I can see it in my list of addons, the preferences page comes up blank when I try to open it.

How do I troubleshoot this? Thanks!
  • The preferences page coming up blank is really weird, reinstalling the add-on might be a good start. The visibility of addons is controlled by firefox. Look for the Zotero button in the Customize mode of Firefox.
  • Thanks @adomasven for the super quick response!

I just re-installed it from scratch, but not only is the preferences page blank, but the Zotero button is missing from the Customize mode page as well!!... Here is a screenshot: http://imgur.com/a/LUQY2
  • Which Firefox version is that on?

Version 53 64-bit with multiprocess enabled.
  • Does it work if you disable other add-ons, or in a new profile?
  • Aha, it worked in a new, clean profile. Here is my list of addons in my default profile: http://imgur.com/a/mNSpi

I haven't installed any new addons recently, and the Zotero Connector addon has been working until recently so I'm not sure what happened. Might this be an e10s or WebExtensions issue?
  • It could be possible that an update to another extension may have started causing the Connector to fail. If you disable all other add-ons and restart, does the Connector work?
  • I just tried disabling all other addons, unfortunately that didn't make a difference...
  • Restart Firefox, navigate to about:debugging, tick "Enable add-on debugging" and click "Debug" next to Zotero Connector. You might get a prompt about remote-debugging session - click "Yes/OK". Developer tools will open. Switch to "Console" tab at the top. Copy the contents of the console, if any, post on gist.github.com and copy the link here.
  • OK, I followed your instructions and copied the console debug output here:

    Hope this provides some clues!
  • Not anything obvious I could point at. If it works in a new profile then a Firefox Profile reset will likely cure whatever is causing this. Do note that this will remove all your extensions, themes and preferences.
  • OK... If resetting my profile is the only solution I will consider it. Thanks for your help!! I really appreciate your fast response.
