I've had same issue "Database upgrade error" when I try to run Zotero for Firefox
[Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE) [mozIStorageConnection.rollbackTransaction]" nsresult: "0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE)" location: "JS frame :: chrome://zotero/content/xpcom/db.js :: Zotero.DBConnection.prototype.rollbackTransaction :: line 538" data: no] [ERROR: cannot rollback - no transaction is active]
Not sure how I can move forward to get a log because I could not activate Zotero and move forward.
Zotero is running for Firefox version 53.0.3 (32-bit).

Hi Adam, I think that it was vers. 4.0.29.19 (My laptop was replaced by new one early on May). When that issue, I removed Zotero an rest of add-ins, installed again Zotero for Firefox (vers 4.0 29.20) same issue arise just passing over Zotero icon. Now, for your info - not sure if related or not - there's an issue in hard-disk were Zotero library is located (not able to create any folder) and before taking any other action, I'm making a back up just in case. Hope it helps. Thanks for your kind attention.

Sorry, what do you mean by this?
NS_ERROR_FAILURE is a generic error, and we're not really able to say what the problem is, but there's a good chance it's caused by security software interfering with Zotero's ability to access the disk. You could try disabling any that you're running, but at this point, with Zotero 5.0 (which will only be available as a standalone version) around the the corner, you're best off trying Zotero Standalone to see if that works better on your system.
Hi, thank you first for your prompt reply. Please consider this issue closed: I'm dealing with some issues in hard disk where Zotero's library is kept which is also impacting other applications . It doesn't look to be a Zotero issue. I'm running Zotero now from an external hard disk and it runs perfectly. Thanks again for your kind attention,
