Addings PDF's

I'm a very new (<24 hours) user of Zotero. I'm having trouble adding a PDF as a new items with all of its information in the appropriate fields. It will save an item with the entire citation as the title, leaving blank fields for author, journal, etc. Can anyone walk me through this or point me at the correct support article?

You will want to check the "Automatically attach associated PDFs and other files when saving items" preference. You can read about that preference here.

I turned that option on, but it still isn't filling out the fields except for "title." Does it only work for some PDF's?

what pages are you getting the pdfs from?
Which version of Zotero are you using (the 1.5b version has more advanced features to get the citation data to pdfs).

I downloaded 1.5b and I'm having the same trouble. I'm downloading the PDF from the journal's website, genetics.org.

You might want to watch the screencasts. Rather than use Zotero on PDF pages, use it on the page with the abstract. For example, go to:
http://www.genetics.org/cgi/content/abstract/181/3/933
And click the icon that appears in your Firefox address bar.
