Zotero standalone to zotero firefox

Hi,

I had installed Zotero standalone on my PC and realized I really need to be using Zotero Firefox. I now have the Zotero firefox plug-in on my browser and re-installed in word, but I still have the Zotero standalone as an application on my computer. Because of this, when I try to add a cite in word, it connects to my standalone, not my firefox. Is there a way to get rid of standalone? Also - can I get an application of Zotero firefox for my desktop so I don't always need to open the browser?

Thanks
  • Let's start with the second question:
"can I get an application of Zotero firefox for my desktop so I don't always need to open the browser?"
I don't understand what you mean here -- that sounds like you want Zotero Standalone? Why do you think you need to be using Zotero Firefox?
  • Standalone doesn't connect well to Word. I used to have it on my computer as an application and have it through Firefox and am trying to replicate the same system as I begin to use Zotero again.
  • Standalone connects to Word the same way the Firefox add-on does, so any differences you're seeing are likely because of something else.

Also, in a default install, Zotero standalone and Zotero for Firefox point to the same database, so there is no different which one is communicating with Word.

To have the Firefox version interact with Word, make sure you have https://www.zotero.org/support/word_processor_plugin_installation installed.
  • So how can I get my library to show up in my standalone application?
  • Thank - that worked. It is still extremely slow. Anyway to fix that? Also - what are the benefits of firefox over standalone then?
  • There are no real benefits of Firefox version. From version 5.x, the Standalone version will be available only. What do you mean by "it is extremely slow" exactly?
