International Journal of Exercise Science Style
Hello! -
I am working with my students in a university setting and trying to use the IJES style. The citation format is correct, but according to the current guidelines (http://digitalcommons.wku.edu/ijes/policies.html): "References should be numbered and listed alphabetically. Journal titles should be abbreviated in the style used in Index Medicus." The current posted style in the reference repository doesn't seem to put the reference in alphabetical order, but order of appearance. I would change it, but I am not that tech savvy...help please!?!

My apologies for not getting back with you sooner. You are quite quick in replies as I have seen in other forums. I thank you very much for your feedback! The few discrepancies I see:
The references are arranged by appearance currently whereas they should be arranged alphabetically.
The specifically mention that journal titles should be abbreviated in the style used in Index Medicus (http://www.bg.ump.edu.pl/czasopisma/medicus.php?lang=eng).
Month of publication should not be in the reference.
There should be no semi-colon after the journal title in the reference.
The year should be at the end of the reference after the page numbers.
As far as book/chapters go, the policies state that authors should refrain from using "review articles and abstracts" and I assume that would include books as well. I could not find examples of those kinds of citations in recent articles so I would assume a reasonable matching of text reference style with their guidelines for article reference style would be appropriate.
Sample references:
Lyons S, Richardson M, Bishop P, Smith J, Giesen J. Excess post-exercise oxygen consumption in untrained males: effects of intermittent durations of arm ergometry. Appl Physiol Nutr Metab 31(3): 196-201, 2006.
McFarlin BK, Mitchell JB. Exercise in hot and cold environments: Differential effects on leukocyte number and NK cell activity. Aviat Space Environ Med 74: 1231-1236, 2003.
Again, thank you!

I just wanted to check in on your progress. I'm certainly not trying to rush you (in fact, I won't use it until after the new year), I just wanted to double check. Thank you again for your help! -

Thank you so much for your help. It will be a while but I once I and my students get to using it again in a few weeks, I'll get back with you so much. I hate to take advantage of anyone's generosity...is there a way I can support you all and your work with a small donation? Again, thank you very much -
Matt

Alternatively, Zotero's long-term funding is assured by people using and paying for Zotero file storage. So if that's something that could be useful for you, consider using that.
I'm one of Dr. Renfrow's students working on a research project with him right now and we've noticed that the issue number is missing from our sources.
Our sources should look like this in IJES format:
Lyons S, Richardson M, Bishop P, Smith J, Giesen J. Excess post-exercise oxygen consumption in untrained males: effects of intermittent durations of arm ergometry. Appl Physiol Nutr Metab 31(3): 196-201, 2006.
However, the "(3)" section is currently missing in the sources in IJES style from Zotero. Is there a way to include the issue number in the reference style?
Thanks,
Melody
The new style will be on the repository shortly. Check the time stamp: https://www.zotero.org/styles?q=id:international-journal-of-exercise-science
