Can't get Zotero to work on Mac

Hi. I have downloaded Zotero standalone and the extension for Safari. I can open an add references to Zotero, but I cannot get it to connect with Word - there is no evidence of the Zotero add-in when I open Word documents.

I have tried following instructions on the website, but when I go to Zotero Tools-Add ons it mentions the extension for Libre Office/Open Office/Neo Office. It says that this is not installed, but doesn't give me the option of installing it. I do not have any of these I think - I have Office 365, and have Word installed.

Can anybody help? I am at a it of a loss what to do.
  • In Preferences -> Cite -> Word Processors do you have an option to (re)install the Word extension? What happens when you try to do that?
  • No. It just says that it is not install, without giving an option to install it.
  • That really shouldn't happen.

Could you take a screenshot of the pane where you don't get an option to install the extensions and post it somewhere online (dropbox, imgur, etc.)?
  • Sorry, I have realised that that is not fully accurate. There is a button that says "install...." but when I click nothing happens. (Sorry if this is a daft question - I am new to Macs).

Could you generate a Debug ID for clicking the "install..." button?
  • I have just tried but I can't do it. I followed the instructions but the "Submit to Zotero Server" button doesn't seem to be working - it stays sort of faint.

What version of MacOS are you running on this macbook? This is not a usual recommendation, but have you tried restarting the computer and reinstalling Zotero Standalone?
  • Hmm I will try. IT is MacOS Sierra Version 10.12.1 if that means anything? Will try a restart.
  • After several reinstalls and restarts it is finally working, thanks!
