How to export full settings/addins to new installation?

Hi,

I'd appreciate help. When I created new account or install Zotero in new computer, the settings and addins were transfered easily since they were stored in Firefox Profile. Zotero was full portable.

Now, in the case of standalone beta 5 I copied/pasted the profile content from old account "C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Zotero\Zotero\", however just some settings were restored. I had Zotfile and other addins installed too, and even after copying the roaming content, the addins are missing.

How to export/import full settings/addins using standalone beta 5?

Thanks!

Zotero profile code is just Firefox profile code, so the process should be the same. My best guess is that you already had a Zotero profile and copied a second one, but profiles.ini was still pointing to the first one.
  • @dstillman could you please elaborate how this will work when Zotero has moved completely to only Standalone. Will there be a export settings and addins button? You may have answered this in your comment but I could not figure out the procedure in a post-Firefox world.
  • At least initially, there won't be an automated way to sync all settings, though of course you can just copy over the relevant files.

It's the same as Firefox. They use identical profiles.

  • right, but Firefox has profile sync. Zotero presumably doesn't?

    Ah, that's true.
  • How can I identify that Zotfile is included in the profile I'm copying? Is there a file name to look for?
    Thanks!
  • it would have zotfile@columbia.edu.xpi in the extension folder.
