Snapshots on Le Monde (French newspaper)

Hello, I noticed that the snapshot function seem not to function anymore on www.lemonde.fr, even if you are a subscriber of this newspaper (a rough equivalent to the NYT or Wash Post).

I am therefore now forced to copy-paste the newspaper article on a file on my computer, and then add a link to that file.

Is it a Zotero issue, or did Le Monde's webmaster made a change to impede this ? Thanks for any feedback.

Does this only happen with Le Monde or also other websites?

I think the issue is misdescribed -- the Monde Translator is broken, i.e. clicking the Zotero icon throws an error. The actual snapshot function (which you can get to by clicking on the little arrow next to the save to Zotero icon) still works, at least for me.

This is strange.

@bwiernik : it works just fine on www.liberation.fr, for instance.

@adamsmith: I have no error message when I click the Z icon. However, I (and my friend, on Mac - I'm on PC) tried what you said, but we got the same problem: the snapshot we get just lead us to this URL https://secure.lemonde.fr , where we have to insert our password (we are both subscribers to the Monde), and then we land on the Monde's home page.

I thought perhaps it would be because of my NoScript plug-in, but my friend doesn't have it. We both have Adblock, though.

I sent a mail to Le Monde but they usually are not very cooperative.

could we get some sample URLs? I've been testing on http://www.lemonde.fr/les-decodeurs/article/2014/06/20/au-fait-quelle-difference-entre-sunnites-et-chiites_4442319_4355770.html and while the actual translator doesn't work, snapshots do (though they're ugly)

PS: I have the same issue on the Europresse database ( http://nouveau.europresse.com ), but here my snapshot lands a blank page (apart from the Europress logo) with the message: Attachment id not an integer.

Can you try in an incognito window or so where you're not logged in as a registered user? Snapshots are saving fine for me, but I could see that not being the case for subscribers, ironically.

I tried on my laptop, which is not logged in as a subscriber.

2 things:

- it works, but ugly (as on my old February snapshot on the Heidegger article)

- whereas my work PC (registered subscriber) does not recognize the URL as a newspaper (it records the data as a webpage), my laptop does recognize it.

Must be something about my configuration, but I am not aware of any changes that I made on it recently.

no, it's the different URL. We may be able to work with that -- can you post one of the URLs as you see them?

You mean the ones that work, when I access them from my laptop ? They are the same, just with www.lemonde.fr instead of abonnes.lemonde.fr .
