Extracted highlights garbled

I am trying to extract highlights from JStor PDFs. In every one of them so far, the highlighted text in the extracted annotations comes up garbled. The words are there but in an almost random order. Copy-Pasting works normally on the same text, as does extraction on Sumnotes. Any one else have this problem? Any ideas?

    What version of Zotfile and what PDF annotation software are you using?

    It's Zotfile 4.2.6, and I'm using Acrobat Reader DC 2015.023.20070. The extraction works fine if I annotate on PDF-Xchange, but this would mean re-annotating a ton of files...
