Grouping References in Bibliography / Add Additional Text to Bibliography Entry

Hi! I hope I am not asking an already solved question, but so far my research did not bring up any useful results for this issue.

Is it possible to
1) group multiple references into one bibliography entry?
2) add additional information to a bibliography entry without being deleted once a new reference is added or the bibliography is refreshed?

An example for both would be this entry:

(77) For some reports regarding the bond energy of the central C−C bond of [1.1.1]propellane, see: (a) Wiberg, K. B.; Walker, F. H. J. Am. Chem. Soc. 1982, 104, 5239−5240. (b) Wiberg, K. B. J. Am. Chem. Soc. 1983, 105, 1227−1233. (c) Jackson, J. E.; Allen, L. C. J. Am. Chem. Soc. 1984, 106, 591−599. (d) Feller, D.; Davidson, E. R. J. Am. Chem. Soc. 1987, 109, 4133−4139.

Thanks a lot!
  • Basic answer is no. Zotero/CSL can't handle the mixed/compound bibliography entries as used in Chemistry.

It's generally something we'd like to support, but since its logic is distinct from any other bibliography used in any other discipline, it requires fairly big changes to both underlying systematic and interface, so I don't think that'll happen quickly.
  • Ok, thank you anyway for your quick reply!
  • Is this for the Journal of the American Chemical Society?
  • yes, exactly. But also other chemistry journals encourage/allow this kind of grouped references.
