Cleaning up auhtors and tags

When I export data from different databases I end up having some keywords (tags) and some authors having several different spellings. It would be nice to have functionality where I could match these similar authors and tags and tell Zotero to replace them with only one of the variations.

    You can right-click on a tag and rename it, which may achieve some of what you are after (it isn't automated for future additions, but it isn't that bad to clean up tags after adding a few dozens/hundred citations).

    Batch editing is planned. There are past discussions on that here.
