Troubleshooting for account problem

Hi there,
I am not sure if there's any ban to the volume limit.
I was using it to save references okay up until the system bumps up a message which requires me to register/login in order to continue.
I did registered. At first it ran okay, however, the references can no longer be saved through Chrome extension.
After that, it was reported that my login has problem and I can no longer use it properly.
Please help me check the problem. Thank you very much!

  • Not really sure what you're referring to, but this sounds like something from a website, not Zotero. Can you include a specific error message that you're seeing, and where exactly you're seeing it?
  • Hi,
The issue happened when I was downloading reference for bibliography.
I guess initially I've exceed the limits of free space that Zotero offered.
Therefore Zotero shows a message asked me to register/log in. After finishing this step, at the beginning I was able to save one or two bibliographies yet it didn't show up in the database. Later on, I was no longer able to proceed saving bibliography from any of the websites due to a login problem.

Here is the message, it says:
'Zotero cannot access your login information, possibly due to a corrupted Zotero logins database.

Close Zotero, remove cert8.db, and logins.json from your Zotero profile directory, and re-enter your Zotero login information in the Sync pane of the Zotero preferences.'

I've tried to search the said files in the computer and found none of them.
Currently, I turn off the options of sync automatically and sync full-text content. However, when I want to turn on the sync option, this message would reappear again.

That wouldn't be the situation. If you try to save from Chrome without Zotero Standalone open, it can prompt you to log in to the website to save directly to zotero.org — my guess is that that's what you're thinking of? That doesn't have anything to do with exceeding free space, and you should always just save with Zotero Standalone open anyway.

(There's also a warning you get when you exceed your file sync quota while syncing from Zotero Standalone, but that's not about registering or logging in, which you would already have needed to do to be syncing, so I don't think that's what you're referring to.)

Anyhow, for the corrupted logins database, you want to go to your Zotero profile directory and delete those files. It could possibly also be caused by security software on your system interfering with Zotero, so you could try temporarily disabling any you're running to see if it helps if deleting those files doesn't help.
