How to enter dates before christ?

How can I enter a "publication date" before Christ?

    It throws an error, actually. This is an old bug that hasn't been fixed.

    oh right. I just checked that it cited it correctly (which it does), not what happened later.
    If it's single or double digits before Christ you can get it to work by writing 35BC or 04BC (without any spaces) but for longer years there really doesn't appear to be a solution (yet).
