Footnote Citations

Is there a way to view all the field codes that are in a specific document and toggle to each one in word? I have some citations that I can click on and they will highlight gray and others have no activity like I manually typed them in. When I add new citations they do adjust the numbering of the inactive citations. I'm not sure how to identify the problem. I am using MSWord 2010 on windows 7.

You can change the settings in Word to show the grey shading on all fields:

Then you can tell with a quick visual inspection which citations are manual and which are from Zotero.

if these are footnotes, though, that doesn't mean anything. Footnote numbering is handled by Word, so it always updates, even if a citation is typed in by hand entirely.

@bwiernik - That helped bring some clarification.
@adamsmith - I have had issues in the past where word did not update the footnote #'s automatically which identified a very different issue but clearly not the case in my current document. Thank you both for your assistance.
