Sync failing due to larger file sizes

Dear all,

I have purchased unlimited storage, however my sync will not work as it keeps flagging particular files as being too large to sync with the server. I have a huge database and going through and removing the larger PDFs would take months, and defeat the purpose of storing them in my library!

Does anyone have a solution to this issue? I need syncing to work as I need access to a group that I have set up for work. I have also tried exporting my PhD folder (containing the offending files), which also fails. I thought I could just remove that folder and import when needed (having now completed said PhD).

Many thanks.
  • What's the exact error you're receiving?
  • "You have reached your Zotero File Storage quota. Some files were not uploaded. Other Zotero data will continue to sync to the server.

See your zotero.org account settings for additional storage options.

The last line is the file that it seems to have issues with. This particular one is not a large file, just a paper, so perhaps it has nothing to do with file size. My quota is unlimited, having purchased the unlimited plan yesterday morning, upgrading from the 6GB one.
  • Right, so this isn't because of large files but because somehow the sync isn't aware of your unlimited plan (yet?).
Your plan shows up as unlimited here? https://www.zotero.org/settings/storage
  • You're syncing with a different account. The account you're logged into, which has the unlimited plan, has never synced and has no items. If you want to transfer the unlimited plan to your other account, email storage@zotero.org.
  • I'm an idiot. Many thanks Dan, I have aligned the accounts. I'll try syncing now and see how I go.
  • That seems to be syncing happily now. Many thanks for your help Dan.
