Unable to add connector to Word

Hello,
I've been successfully using Zotero for a while, but having recently changed hardware I now find myself unable of getting the Zotero connector to work on Word. I had Word 2010 installed and I now have 2016, but I keep getting an error message from Word when I try to install the connector.
Any ideas?
I'm on Windows 7 64.

    What error are you getting? The Word plugin is installed by Zotero, so I'm a little confused what you mean by "an error message from Word".

    (Also, technically speaking, there's no "connector" for Word — there are connectors for different browsers and a plugin for Word.)

    Oh that should explain it. Should I try re-installing Zotero then?

    I'm still not clear on what the issue is. You'd have to tell us the exact error message you're getting.

    If you mean that you're trying to open the plugin XPI into Word, that certainly won't work.

    Is this Zotero Standalone or Zotero for Firefox? The plugins are only for the latter, and those get installed in Firefox. If this is Zotero Standalone, you shouldn't be installing anything from the Zotero website for Word — the word processor plugins are bundled, and you can reinstall them from the Cite pane of the preferences.
