problem finding items from Quick Format bar

This discussion was created from comments split from: problem of communication between zotero and word.
  • Im having the same issue, While writing a paper i am trying to add citations that have be pulled into the zotero stand alone app at roughly the same time and the library wont find both of them but will find them independently. so when trying to put multiple citations together it will find one so then i start typing the other and it cant find it in my library even though i am looking at the paper within the library. if i put a different paper first i can still only pull one of the two in but not both. i have restarted my computer and still having the issue of not finding an item in the library when two certain papers are cited together
  • @dcm0009 --- obviously I don't know for sure, but that sounds like a different issue.
Have you tried with the classic view of the add citation dialog (activate using the small arrow at the left of the word add-on search bar.)? Obviously this should be working either way, but this would be good for testing.
  • I am reasonably new to zotero but did find classic view and it does work to fill all fields when the newer style bar will not. So you are correct its not a word/ zotero communication problem but a citation bar issue. Thanks

And you can generally add multiple items with the citation bar? It's just two specific ones which don't work? Could you post a citation for both of those (any citation style) here?

@Dan%20Stillman if you could spit the thread after post 2 whenever you get a chance?
  • yes, I can add multiples. but there are certain combinations that do not work together but you remove one of the problem ones and you can add the other just fine. it only seems to be a problem with newly downloaded citations. the citations that are a few weeks old arent having this issue.
