Installing zotero MS Word 'Add in'?

On my MSWord program, there is no 'Add in' tab, which should hold my zotero data.

I tried DLing 'Word for Windows Plugin 3.5.6' but it says there is no program on my computer to open the .xpi file

I downloaded a 'Universal Driver' but still, cant open the plugin.

Help?

which Zotero version, which Word version, which OS?

Latest zotero version (DL'd 5 days ago); MS Version: 14.0.7173.5000 (2010); OS Windows 7

and that's Zotero Standalone, yes? And Word is not a starter version?

Zotero standalone. Not sure, how would I know if its a starter version?

If you look at the full version information (as shown on that page), it should tell you which version is activated.
If it's the starter version, Zotero integration won't work.
Otherwise, note that you don't need to download anything. The add-on ships with Standalone. Start by re-installing the add-on from the "Cite" tab of the Zotero preferences.

Ok, it was reinstalled and still nothing shows up on MSWord as far as an add in

On MSWord, under 'options', 'customize ribbon', the 'add ins' tab is selected as being active but doesn't show up either.

You need to install the .xpi in Firefox/Zotero Standalone. (Tools--Add-Ins--Gear--Install Add-in from File).

oh I figured it out. Nothing showed up about it being installed
as well the standalone says that word plugin is installed already.
There is still no 'add in' tab on my word screen

Right, but this doesn't sound like you've followed the instructions on manually installing the add-on in Word that I link to above, i.e. placing the Zotero.dot or Zotero.dotm in the Word startup folder (instructions linked above)
