Firefox Video Translator Issue - Can't Capture YouTube and Vimeo
No Report ID
Zotero cannot capture videos consistently from YouTube and not at all from Vimeo. The video translator does appear, but after clicking the browser extension button, Zotero displays an error in the "Saving to..." box: "An error occurred while saving this item. Check Troubleshooting Translator Issues for more information." I tried the troubleshooting instructions on that page. Disabling other plugins and restarting Firefox inconsistently solved the issue for YouTube content but not Vimeo. Refreshing the page occasionally works for YouTube, but never for Vimeo. Clicking the extension button multiple times works intermittently as well for YouTube but not Vimeo. With these fixes, occasionally Zotero will capture the metadata for an item correctly except for the title, which will the title of the previous item saved (possibly a separate issue?). Other pages are saving correctly.
I have reproduced this problem on more than one computer.
Other Browser extensions in use being toggled on and off for testing (note, however, that none of these extensions were on all of the computers I tried on which I could reproduce the problem):
- Evernote web clipper
- Xmarks
- Google Scholar Button
- Boomerang for Gmail
- Mendeley web importer
Steps to reproduce.
1. Open Zotero
2. Navigate to a video in YouTube or Vimeo
3. Click the browser extension button (which is displaying the video item type image)
4. Zotero displays an error in the "Saving to..." box: "An error occurred while saving this item. Check Troubleshooting Translator Issues for more information."
5. Turn off other extensions
6. optional: Refresh the page
7. optional: restart Firefox
8. Click the browser extension button again.
9. Optional: repeat steps 6-8
Sometimes a YouTube page that hadn't save will save now. Sometimes a YouTube page that had saved will not save now. Vimeo pages will never save.
Context:
Firefox 45.4.0
Zotero 4.0.29.5
Mac OS 10.10.5

But YouTube worked fine for me on some tests. Can you provide some example urls where you encounter problems?
