Group library but different university login: how to access the same file?

I have an issue with the group library: my colleague has an access to journal articles thanks to his University X login, and has saved some of them in our group library. I however have access thanks to my University Y login. When I want to open the article, I'm redirected to his University X login platform, and therefore I'm not able to access the document. Anyone knows how this issue can be solved? Thanks.
  • well, typically the files should be attached in a group, in which case you'd both have access just through the Zotero item. You can also use the URL field (by clicking on the "URL" label, not the actual URL) in Zotero.
I'm guessing the proxy server of your colleague is being saved as part of the Snapshot URL in Zotero. That's not ideal (and not easy to change), but as per above should be easy enough to get around.
  • Sometimes, even the URL field will save the proxy enabled link. If the item has a DOI, then, another option is to click on the DOI field and that will take you to the article webpage.
  • didn't realize that was still happening. Not good. In those cases you can&should also remove the proxy information from the URL.
  • Yes, I delete the proxy part of the URL and it's relatively easy if done while saving the item. Might be tedious if someone has hundreds of such URL items already.
  • Yes, aurimas' pull request for this never got merged.
