How to create an item for a clinical guideline in Zotero?

Hi All,

When using citations of clinical guidelines, issued by scientific or professional organizations, I've been using the item type "Report", unless the guideline is published as an article in a journal. Still, I'm not sure if this is the best way to do it, as the when inserting the bibliography in MS Word the format is pretty different of those of the journal papers. May you please be so kind to advise which item type is the most correct for clinical guidelines citation?

Thanks you all
  • Yes, Report seems like the best fit in general. The citation needs for documents that are published by a professional organization are different than for journal articles. Clinical guidelines and similar documents don't usually have things like standardized volume and page numbers, so different information is needed to located them compared with journal articles (e.g., things like the publisher, a report type and number, and a URL might be needed).

What citation style are you using? How does the bibliography currently appear and what do you expect instead?
  • Hi, thanks for your reply. Most frequently, I use Vancouver, or Vancouver superscript. I was just wondering if this would be the most correct style to use, in order to have correct citations made in papers. I wouldn't like to have a bibliography in the wrong format when sending it to publishers :) Thanks for your help!
  • Report will generally be the best.
