purge selected files in storage

Is there a way to purge selected pdf files attached to metadata in storage?
I just received a message telling me I had reached my storage limit. I would like to eliminate some of my pdf files in storage but not all. Is this possible?

    no. You can't currently select which files to sync and which don't (which is what purging effectively would require). You can, of course, turn off file sync entirely and your data will continue to sync.

    If I purge all, do I lose my metadata or just the attached files?

    If you just don't need your files to sync, you can turn off file sync in the Zotero preferences.
    Purge is for very specific situations (mostly switching to a different file sync service like webDAV) and almost certainly not the right solution for you.

    If I turn of File sync option, will metadata be stored on server? I want to be able to consult metadata from different platforms and in different places but not necessarily consult the documents themselves. Where can I read more about this to understand how it works?
