Importing meeting abstracts

Hi all -- any advice on the best way to import abstracts presented at meetings (either posters or oral presentations) without having to do much of it manually? I know this may vary based on the meeting web site, but I can't seem to make it work smoothly. For example, all of the authors appears as one and the date of presentation is not always imported.
Here is one example site:

Thanks.
  • Like you say, this will be heavily dependent on the quality of the data on the meeting site--there almost certain doesn't exist a specific Zotero translator written for these sites. A link to a specific abstract would be helpful.

One tip would be if the site has an Export link (e.g., to Endnote, RefWorks, or BibTeX)--Zotero can import those downloaded files.
  • The ASCO Meeting Library is generally supported, though. Which paper didn't import properly for you?
  • Here is one example of an abstract that did not import properly:
    http://meetinglibrary.asco.org/content/165131-176

I used the Firefox Zotero plug-in and selected "Save to Zotero using ASCO meeting library" from the drop-down. No matter which item type I use (I tried presentation, conference paper, journal article), the authors and date of presentation do not import.

    Any advice appreciated, thank you.
  • This imports fine for me. You're otherwise getting normal imports into Zotero? Do you use an ad blocker (which would help, not hurt, if anything)?

Which item type did you use? I have a Mac, if that matters.
I don't believe I use an ad blocker, how would I go about that?
    Thanks!
  • You don't use an item type when saving Zotero items. Zotero imports the item type automatically.
How about the other question -- do other pages import normally/completely for you?
  • Yes, I have no issues importing journal articles, which is mostly what I do. Web pages have also worked. Meeting abstracts have been my major issue, with the authors not appearing being the top problem.
