switching item type while entering fields

While entering data in fields for a particular item, I realized I was using the wrong item type (should have used "Book Section" instead of "Article"). Is there a way to switch to the right item type without losing the work I've already entered?

    Never mind. Discovered that I could change the first field, "Item Type" from its drop-down menu!
