Error 194384372: "Name...is too long to sync"

Hello,
I am trying to sync from Zotero Standalone (Mac) and receive an error numbered 194384372. The error message states that the name of a particular journal article is too long to sync. It advises me to find the item, shorten the name, and try again.

The problem is that this item does not appear to be in my library. I have checked the trash and shared collections but cannot find it anywhere.

Can you please help? Thank you.

note that "name" refers to the name of an author, not of an article, so somehow that title got into the name field. Have you tried searching for it with "My Library" selected?
  • Thanks so much for the quick reply. I did search in My Library as well. I tried searching with both author name and article title words, but no luck. Any other suggestions for finding it? Thanks again.
  • Hi again. I just went back to double-check everything and now I am getting a different sync error message. This one is about 76 version conflicts. I have tried to resolve them in two ways: (1) by checking the box to resolve them all at once; (2) manually clicking 76 times to select the local version. Neither of these seems to work as I keep getting this error. Every time I re-open Zotero and try to sync I get one of the two messages -- they seem to alternate.
  • See Repeated Conflicts — it's the actual error that's the problem, not the conflict resolution. You'll need to find the item identified in the error message, which really should just be as simple as picking a word from the name and searching for it in the library root (and also emptying the trash).
  • That makes sense -- so if I've understood correctly, the name error is still the root of the problem and that's what preventing the conflict from resolving. The problem is that I still cannot find the item with the name error. I have searched numerous words from both the author and the title. I have searched in the library, in the trash (which I've now emptied), and in shared collections. It just does not seem to be there. What should I try next?
  • I suspect you're just overlooking it. Paste 'W6T8MDNP' into the search bar in your library root and it should bring up the item in question. The invalid name is the last author on the paper.

If you do find it, could you paste the URL or both the content of the "Library Catalog" and the "title" field here? We'd want to check if this is something that we could prevent on import.
  • It worked! Thanks to you both.

Here is the URL for the article: http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/polp.12144/full
    Is that what you needed?

    Thanks for all your help.
  • yes, that's perfect, I get the same incorrect import. I'll see if it's fixable (it almost certainly is Wiley's fault, but we may still be able to correct on import).
