Zotero 5.0Beta - Syncing feeds

Version 5.0beta.31 +c5dad53

Syncing of feeds between serveral Computers shows a funny behaviour.

I have several feeds in my feeds list. All synced between several Computers or Firefox instances (local / portable). Local Zotero folders are at different places.

After adding new feeds to one of the Zotero installations suddenly all of the old feed entries disappear. Only the new entries are visible in the list.
After closing the first instance, I open an other instance and synchronise it with Zotero - the old and the new entries are listed in the second instance.
Closing the second instance and going back to the first instance has no impact on the feeds list of the first instance. Still only the new ones are visible.

I made several tests to identify this problem, but the only thing I found that from time to time the lost feed entries suddenly are back.
  • After adding new feeds to one of the Zotero installations suddenly all of the old feed entries disappear.
Just to make sure, you are talking about feed items, i.e. the items within individual feeds displayed in the middle pane?

If so - these are not synced between clients. The items are pulled from the live feeds and stored in Zotero until they expire after reading. Feed items are not intended for long-term retention, neither do they contain all the metadata which can be extracted with Zotero translators.

If you want to retain interesting feed items between different synced clients, you can store them in your library either by dragging them into your library or using the button on the right-hand pane.
  • Sorry, that my description was not clear enough. I'm talking about the feed list and their entries which are on the left side - below "My Library". I am not talking about the content of the feed. The procedure to store these entries is clear.

From my point of view it seems that the "lost feeds" appear again during the normal refresh of the feeds after the configurated refresh time - normally 1 hour.

I am unable to replicate this. Let's clarify a few things.
After adding new feeds to one of the Zotero installations suddenly all of the old feed entries disappear. Only the new entries are visible in the list.
    1. So just to make sure, you have a freshly synced account with existing feeds displaying? Immediately after adding a feed old feeds disappear and this happens without restarting?
After closing the first instance, I open an other instance and synchronise it with Zotero - the old and the new entries are listed in the second instance.
    2. Is the second instance also a freshly synced account? Does the same happen if you add new feeds to this instance too?
I made several tests to identify this problem, but the only thing I found that from time to time the lost feed entries suddenly are back.
    3. Do these phantom feeds disappear on restart or is it once they're back - they're back?
  • ad 1:

I have a freshly synced account with existing feeds displaying. I added two new feeds. After a while the old feeds disappear - step by step starting with the last entry of the list. This happens without restarting.

    ad 2:

The second instance is also a freshly synced account. Whether this instance shows the same behavior when I add new items I'm not sure about that. I have to check this

    ad 3:
The return of the feeds is not a matter of sync or restart. Suddenly this list starts to add the entries - step by step.

Currently I'm trying to reproduce this behavior to get an indication which effect causes this problem.

  • I made a screen capture video. If you are interested in I can sent you this video.

  • I had a look at the zotero sqlite database:

These are the entries of the table "feeds". I only added feeds and made a sync. I didn't delete any of them from my side:
